5Thrilled with the TV
By J. Lucas
I found the buying experience through Amazon's authorized retailer to be great. I was a bit nervous about spending such a large amount of money with a retailer I knew nothing about but the transaction was perfect. As for the TV. I don't know much about the tech side but the picture quality is outstanding. I did start out with the analog cable but upgraded to digital 1080p and found the money is well worth it. The TV needs to be fed the high quality signal to perform at its best.

2Bad Pixels no satisfaction from Sharp
By Joe H.
I purchased the Sharp LC52SE94U LCD HDTV through Amazon. The actual seller was OneCall(Huppin's). After 3 days 2 pixels went bad. Contacted OneCall, they said it was a manufacturer's defect & they would not be able to help me. They gave me the number to Sharp customer service. One interesting thing about the product, when I opened up the box it appeared that the LCD screen had been pulled out and replaced in the box. The internal packaging surrounding the display appeared to have been removed and replaced. When I mentioned this to the person at OneCall he stated that they did not open the product prior to shipping it to me. When I received the product it was still sealed with two nylon straps each covered with the OneCall's labels to ensure it had not been opened during shipping. So, if it had been taken out of the box it was prior to being shipped to me by OneCall.Called Sharp and they had me take pictures of the problem and send the pictures to them via email. I sent the pictures to Sharp and received this response via email:"We have reviewed the pictures, and the unit is within our specifications."When I responded and ask what their specifications were for this type of defect I received the following from Sharp."The Liquid Crystal panel is a very high technology product with 3,147,264 thin film transistors, giving you fine picture details. Occasionally, a few non-active pixels may appear on the screen as a fixed point of blue, green or red. Please note that this does not affect the performance of your product.Sincerely,Mrs. ***** ********AQUOS Advantage AdvisorCustomer Assistance CenterSharp Electronics Corporation1-87-SEE-AQUOSaquosadvantage@sharpusa.com"It is my opinion that since this is a display system any error in the display would have direct affect to the performance of the product. I have High Definition cable and these defects are easily noticed during low light and night scenes.A friend of mine had been considering purchasing a Sharp LCD HDTV but after hearing about my problems he is now planning on buying a Samsung.Gave it 2 stars because it is a very nice display but the defects are very annoying. Sharp appears to have poor manufacturing processes and customer service. Why roll the dice with your hard earned money.I have shopped on Amazon for many years. Their pass-through purchasing system has become very problematic with too many sellers each having numerous disparate reviews. If I had purchased this product from a brick & mortar store I would have been able to return it or exchange it. With OneCall this is not an option. In my opinion don't buy from Amazon, don't buy from OneCall, or and especially do not purchase a Sharp LCD TV.Joe H

4Great picture, a few features missing
By J. Suppe
From a geek perspective:This TV gives a great picture. It has so far been great for me and outperforms my roommates 1yr old Bravia XBR in a few areas. I was holding off for many months from buying and finally these were reduced to a reasonable price-size ratio. I couldn't give 5 stars because there are several cons- none of which are deal breakers but they broke my heart to be missing or incomplete. Overall, great set and I highly recommend over anything else on the market for quality and looks, although as far as usability features go they could be refined a bit more. As noted in there are some cons which I will reiterate here as well:Pro:- Great contrast ratio.- Size of the bordering on the set are small.- No LED lit logo (sony's do that).- Plenty of inputs.- Great motion response: games look great. Great response in general actually: over a 25' VGA cable it looks great as a computer monitor.- Audio input for couple with VGA input.- RS232 port and decent specifications in the documentation to control the set.- Detachable speakersCons:- No Picture in Picture: with so much screen, only one input at a time?- No labeling of inputs: If your input is not digital it won't know what it is.- PC inputs are limited in resolution: Even though it is not practical to scale up to 1080p for VGA and be visible, it would be nice- especially since the set is tauted as being 'Full 1080'. Although it does function and look nice at lower resolutions, not all of them are supported.- No DVI.- Speakers are not as great as they could be, although this set begs for wall mount and speaker removal (they are removable).- One feature of this thing is the 'Net' which is a really dumb downed slow web utility to view 'widgets' like current weather, stock prices, etc. Usability of this feature is not so great and it is too slow to be purposeful. Would be great if it were always on and customizable (email notifications would be great).

5An Excellent Value with Above Average picture
By S. J. Romero
First the bad: It's very heavy. My unit weighs about 160lbs and is very difficult to move around on the stand. That said, the delivery guys took care of moving it. Now that its set up, weight is of no consiquence. The Amazing: The up conversion of Standard Definition TV. I researched the Hollywood Quality Video Chipset and read extensively on its websites about how the Television will integrate the upconversion to near-HD on Standard Definition TV. Now that its on my TV stand, its simply amazing to watch both HD and Standard Def TVThe Fabulous: The Quality of HD is flawless. The black definition is enough for me. The Menu is very easy to use, so easy I've never had to consult the manual. The crisp sharpness of the 1080i HD Channels is brilliant and in my eyes compared with my LG television, it's gotta be 1080p I'm watching as it really looks like an open window.I was Sold When: I found out the price. For high quality HQV Chipset + Size + Warranty the Price was a bargain and I couldn't be happier.I'd recommend this TV or any Olevia TV to friends and families. The Delivery guy who helped me to install commented his impression with the unit and wrote down the brand and website i got it from when I told him the price because he said he was going to order one... that's how good this TV is, one look and your sold.I bought it sight unseen online based on the Consumer Reports and couldn't be happier.Lastly, Olevia is an American Owned American Made company and that was just icing on the cake at the end of the day.

5Brilliant color.
By C. LARSON
Once the television arrived, it was an easy set up. HDMI connections x 2 let us attach the cable box and the Blu-ray player directly. Then we turned it on and we were dazzled by the great color and fantastic detail. Only down side is that Olevia uses codes for its remote that are too new to be in many "universal remotes" so we end up with two controllers - one for the TV and one for everything else. This is our second Olevia LCD TV.

5Olevia 747 is Superb
By Frank A. Maida
Having owned this TV for around a month its one of the best TVs I have ever owned. All my previous TVs were Sony's and yes its right there with them or above them. I paid $1300 delivered to the door what a bargain! Out of the box its pretty close to perfect. The only adjustments I did was to lower the brightness and set the advanced black level enhancer to on, the lighting was set to dark room, this TV has plenty of brightness turning it down a little will extend the life of the LCD and also improve the picture giving better black levels. Some pro reviews have stated that the black level performance was average, lowering the brightness will improve that. There is still a lot of standard definition out there and this set performs much better than I expected and better than any other LCD Ive seen, probably due to the excellent Silicon Optix HQV processor it up-scales the tuner to what looks like standard DVD. DVDs look close to 720p HD and that's without an up converting DVD player. If you are watching SD TV you can be hard pressed to think its HD that is until you go to a HD station.HD is simply stunning its like looking out a window very few Hdtvs can achieve this, color quality is excellent. Color temp is user adjustable at 6500 or 9200 but it's not necessary to adjust 6500 is fine in my opinion. It has PIP which I use often for sports, and a nice function called channel surfing it will display several channels at once so you can choose the one you want. it also has Split screen. The Menu is good once you master it, it could drive some people crazy at first though because of the rotating menu. The remote has several small buttons which when viewing in the dark are hard to find despite the fact that it back lit, you have to memorize the ones you need to use like favs sleep view etc, that's about the only thing I can complain about oh it is heavy at 130lbs but once you get it into place that not an issue other thing in researching this TV I heard what I thought was a ridiculous complaint about an egg shaped image when the TV was switching input or in very dark scenes, I saw it too but it disappeared after a week or so, Maybe it had to break in whatever its gone, Sound quality is very good with 25 watts per channel and nice sounding speakers, it has a lot of sound enhancements such as wide sound deep bass and idfa which is preset eq settings for Movie live speech etc.The fact that Olevia is a new company I give them a lot of credit getting to top of the heap so quick. I own a 32" and 27" Olevia I had a problem with the 32 but Circuit City replaced it and the new one it working great. I would recommend that you buy warranty protection for it being we know little about its reliability. I purchased one on the net for $150 for 5 years at Teds unlimited there are other company's that you can go with as well. So for $1450 I have a great TV with a 5 year warranty.I almost felt guilty for not buying a Sony but their 40" Bravia was several hundred dollars more. So Instead I have Sony quality with a Olevia price. I recommend this TV highly walk run or surf and get one before the price go's up. FM

5Outstanding Full HD Bang for your Buck!
By Neil C. McEvoy
I've had great experience with LG products - so my purchase of a 47" Full HD set from LG seemed logical. The picture on my 47LG50 is terrific! Setup out of the box was very intuitive, although I would recommend that the set's picture be set to "standard" instead of "vivid" (torch mode is set by default).Even when powered off, this set is beautiful. Its piano black case frames the 47" screen very well, although it is more susceptible to fingerprints. The set offers three HDMI 1.3 inputs and more connection options than one would normally need.I couldn't give this set a stronger recommendation!

5Great color and picture....
By tony
Pros - The TV has great color and picture quality. It's worth it for the price listed. No Motion blur with Verizon FIOS cable.Cons - The TV gets a slight distortion on certain camera angles when watching high action sports such as football. This is very unnoticeable to most of my friends but I'm a very picky person and can tell on certain camera angles or plays when watching sports the TV tends to get static. The speaker system has a Tru SRS surround feature which is useless along with a clear voice option. The speaker/surround feature could be better. I just use the default sound options for no added surround features from the TV.A few things to take in to consideration.1 - Make sure your TV room as adequate space. If you don't have at least 10-12 feet between you and your HDTV of this size you might get nausea. The TV can be overwhelming since its 47 inches big and looks totally different in your living room compared to in store.2 - Make sure you fine tune the colors and lower the back light as it's very powerful. My Tv is tuned to a 60 backlight 80 contrast 55 brightness.3 - Make sure you get an extended warranty with any HDTV you buy even if its not this model. HDTV's are highly susceptible to dead pixel lines. Most warranty's don't cover a dead pixel line unless it covers a certain area of the TV.4 - Use a HDMI cable that's oxygen free and shielded. You can buy one online for like 10$ instead of 100$ at your local shop.

5Passive 3D makes its mark.
By Michael S. Lile
First off, I'll be (somewhat) showing my age....Since the advent of 3D, men have strived to bring to home the perfect 3D experience. From the old red/green modes, the the better red/blue, Linear Passive, and the latest Circular (RealD©)Passive, and finally the active (shutter) 3D. Each one has their advantages and disadvantages (color issues, ghosting problems, headaches, etc), but the one type has never been brought to the small screen... until now.Recently I visited a local store, for a basic test on how the technology stands up. I am one of the approximately 30-40% that can't stand watching active 3D via the shutter glasses (headaches in my case), so already this has an advantage. I went in and took a pair or RealD glasses, even though the salesman had a pair of LG glasses for use. This TV can accept 4-5 types of 3D encodings (over/under, side-side, different meshes), and has the option for converting 2D to 3D (most of the time not my cup of tea). I did try the 2d-to-3D, and slipped on his pair of LG glasses... and astonishingly, it's magnificent, and very detailed with the 3D on (The trailer was Open Season). After this, I tried the RealD glasses... and voila, same good results. Even with 2D conversion, the glasses you get at the theater works perfectly with the LG, despite the news articles posted elsewhere on various sites. It does come with 4 glasses, compared to 2 on the active 3D sets... and glasses average around $10 (the price of a matinee 3D movie), though now you know you can buy RealD glasses. The clarity otherwise is as expected, vivd and bright with the 1080P Blu-Ray player hooked to it, and great sound. So if you wish to buy a 3D TV that:- Has cheaper glasses- can be viewed by 90% of the peopleBy all means, buy this one. You won't regret it.

5LG tops my list
By R. Shaheed
This is my 2nd LG hdtv - with the 1st being a plasma 50 inch hdtv. I enjoy the plasma , but this 3D lcd is breathe taking... Picture quality is sharper and visuals that I get from my directv hd box is stunning. Just saw Avatar and I was amazed at the quality and clarity of the movie because my plasma does'nt match the quality of the picture. 3D is another subject...it is beautiful and everybody should give it a chance especially with these 3D sets becoming more resonable priced. The only thing I don't need that this hdtv offers is the 240hz motion options-it's useless and doesn't help motion pictures at all. Other than that buy this tv and you will not be mad with your purchase.

5Great picture in 3D & 2D!
By JCEck
I have had this TV for about 6 weeks and it has surpassed all of my expectations. After a complete renovation of our home and the addition of a home theater, we were looking for a TV that would fit the space and provide high quality picture clarity. When we began our search we really didn't give much thought to 3D, do to the hassel of the traditional shutter glasses and the cost associated with having several pairs on hand for visitors. After we learned about this TV we thought that it would be a good choice, although we purchased it sight unseen. When it arrived set up was a breeze and I quickly looked for our cable provider's 3D movie choices. The selections were very limited but I decided to watch "Avatar" and was shocked at the terrific 3D quality. Combined with our Bose surrond system, my wife will have a hard time getting me to go to the movie theater ever again. If you're considering buying a new TV, do yourself a favor and take a look at this one. Many of our friends and family members have purchased new TVs in the past year and our LG 950C blows all of them away in traditional 2D. Now, if only my cable company offered more 3D broadcasting (particularly ESPN 3D) my home theater would be Nirvana!

4Great TV, sans the speakers..
By Tobias Milton
I had never purchased a Westinghouse-branded item before, so I was skeptical. But at this price point, it was the only option that had all of my requirements: 1080p, 24". A comparable Samsung is at least 50-100 dollars more.Pros: -The picture is STUNNING. Full 1080p resolution makes Battlefield 3 and Skyrim look fantastic. I use the TV mostly as a monitor. -The weight is almost nonexistent, and it is thin as a razor, taking up very little space. -The base is fairly sturdy, with a simple thumb-screw securing it. -Menus are easy to navigate, and the remote has buttons for all inputs, so switching to HDMI from TV is a breeze. -The brushed graphite aesthetic is pleasing, and only the base is glossy.Cons: -The SOUND... Is like 1,000 harpies giving birth to Lord Voldemort while he hugs Draco Malfoy. It is detrimental to the auditory canals, and it's uncomfortable for everyone involved. No bass whatsoever. I had read the reviews warning of this, but I ignored them. They were being generous. -The buttons on the TV and remote feel kind of cheap, but they are responsive. -The inputs on the back are kind of oddly placed, especially the coax cable, but it works out well. Having a USB port and 2 HDMI ports more than makes up for it.Overall, it's a great deal, especially if you get it at $200 like I did. It offers a ton of screen real-estate (I upgraded from a 22"), and plugging in my nice Logitech speakers fixes the sound issue. I would definitely consider buying Westinghouse again.

3Good, but with some issues.
By Shawn
I got this TV about a month ago and so far it's pretty good. The price point was right (I paid $170 at Costco) for what I wanted to spend on a 24" 1080p TV, so I considered it a good deal for me. But, there are some concerns.Overall I really like the TV, especially for the price I paid, but the remote is... not very responsive, or at-least the range/angle of the sensor in the TV or the remote itself is rather limited. More often than not I need to aim the remote DIRECTLY at the sensor and make sure I don't just tap the buttons else it won't register. Not a "huge" issue for mer personally, but it's still a concern and an annoyance. One other annoyance is that the coax is situationed in such a spot that it's hard to screw on an antenna (or what have you) since it's facing sideways to the left and is pressed right up against the back of the TV. I was able to connect the antenna, but it was a pain in the butt. I can understand why they did it, but they probably should have created a bit of an indent behind it so the consumer could have an easier time with it.I would recommend the TV to anyone who wants a cheap HDTV but doesn't want to settle for 720p, no TV tuner, or a serious lack of connection ports (such as only 1 HDMI, and no VGA or USB). The visual quality seems very nice to me (of course I'm sure the true high def devotee's will notice a difference), and considering that I'm heavily into gaming on my 360 I can say it's a solid solution for a cheap gaming set.If anyone has any questions about the TV feel free to comment and I'll see if I can answer them.

3Not terrible, not great
By Lmv
I bought this television at Target. The price was great (189.99) considering the size and the fact that it's 1080p. I couldn't find anything comparable. The picture looks great. The coaxial cable connection is poorly placed and difficult but not impossible to connect. I do not have issues with the remote control as others have stated. My only problem is the sound. It's terrible. Very "tinny" and sounds muffled. I've tried to adjust the settings but I can't tell the slightest difference. I am going to try connecting external speakers to improve the sound quality. Overall this television is great for the price, size and picture resolution. The one major deterrent is sound quality.

5Beautiful and Value Packed!!!
By Cory
I came close to purchasing the GP1U's brother, the D62U, for the reason of having all HD formats/resolutions up to 1080p at my disposal. I looked online and found that the gaming model was in stock and on sale at a local retailer so I quickly researched it, took a leap of faith and bought it. The total price for this ended up being less than the D62u's overall price! One thing I love and probably could not live without is this TV's ability to display 1080p content through all of its ports including the component ports. I mounted the stand to the Tv and set it up in about 10 minutes or so. The assembly was very easy and the directions intuitive. I immediately connected a PS3 using older PS2 monster component cables and set the output resolution on the PS3 to 1080p and WOW!The picture on this TV is simply amazing! I downloaded a few 1080p PS3 demos and blu-ray trailers from Playstation Network and watched/ played in total amazement. I dare anyone who gets this TV to watch the Black Hawk Down trailer in 1080p. It's unreal! I also tested out the Vyper Drive gaming interface on the side panel(through component) and it ran very smoothly. There was zero lag. The 6ms response time and 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio contribute to this quality. I tested all of this with the Motorstorm(720p) and Ninja Gaiden(1080p) demos. Wow!There seems to be a popular misconception that 1080p is not noticably different than 720p on this TV size but I noticed a considerable difference between resolutions. This TV boasts an arsenal of HD ports including 2 components, 3 HDMI, and one DVI in. I get free comcast through the wall at my place and plugged in through the TV's coaxial input and found a few HD channels including all the local feeds. I viewed everything from pro surfing(MOJO), to the NHL playoffs(NBC HD), to the Subway series(Yankees vs Mets - FOX HD) in breathtaking 720p and 1080i formats. The Discovery HD theatre channel looks especially exceptional with its stunning visuals 24/7. HDNET and TNT HD look fantastic as well.I was really fearing what 480i programming from regular TV would look like. To my surprise, it looks great! I still need to do some additional calibration but this TV is nearly good to go out of the box. The black levels look fantastic. The lack of picture-in functionality is my only beef but its nothing major. There are so many positives to this TV.Ok, ok, you get the point. This TV is worth the money and is not to be missed if you have the opportunity to buy it. It has everything you would want - all formats - 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. I don't think I'll ever have the capacity to fill all the ports! I recommend it to anyone who loves to play video games at high resolutions and watch HD movies and TV programming!

5Awesome gaming TV
By Dexter Legaspi
I just got this TV a week ago and use it exclusively for gaming. NOTHING really matches this TV ON PAPER. AFAIK Sharp is the only company who makes 32" 1080p TVs.Before I got this TV, I looked at the competing Samsung and Sony products (720p). Looking at the B&M stores, Samsung is not even close, and Sony Bravia is indeed better...but for a huge price difference! This TV supports XBox 360 1080p over component...but it's not really saying much since only TWO games support full 1080p: Virtua Tennis 3 (which i don't have) and NBA street Homecourt...NBA street homecourt in 1080p has inferior framerate and sound than in 720p. In 720p, though, It really rocks! I can't wait to see more games in 1080p.There is one other slightly cheaper Sharp 32" 1080p (LC-32D62U) but I'm it's not optimized for gaming. I'm not even sure if it can support 1080p over component. So what does it mean when a TV is "optimized for gaming?" it just means that the TV isn't doing post-processing of the signal to make it better...think of it as pass-through. therefore, no lag.Oh, and the built-in speakers? I'm not gonna lie: it's like listening on those tin-can toy phones. These TVs aren't built for mind-blowing sound anyway. Get one of those Klipsch 2.1 PC speakers and you're in business. With all that said, IF you are going to use this TV mostly for watching DVDs/SDTV and not for gaming, save your money and get the non-gaming edition or even the 720p models. Otherwise, for the hardcore gaming freaks sitting about 3 feet from the TV, it can't get better than this at a reasonable pricepoint!

Read the beach audio shipping and return policies carefully, they do not accept returns on tv's 20" or larger for ANY REASON.
