5Currently the best 32" LCD for the price
By Arm&Hammer
Pros:- Best part of this TV is the Over the Air (OTA) tuner to get free public broadcast TV stations. Used a paper-clip as the antenna and received over a dozen HD/digital stations with perfect reception in the Washington DC metro area without any dropouts. No cable for me, literally.- Excellent picture, especially after playing around with all color options. The color can be adjusted to anyone's preference, because it has separate color adjustments for red, blue, green, yellow, magenta and cyan, as well as, preset adjustments. 1080p display is great for graphics or if using it with a computer. I starred at a lot of 720p displays before ordering this one, for me, I can see better detail (especially background and graphics) with a 1080p display from 8' away.- Comes on in 2.5 seconds. Try timing how long it takes to turn on any other manufacturer or previous model year TVs. Channel changes almost instantaneous about 1-2 sec, great for channel surfing. With OTA HD/digital stations this was a challenge for a lot of TVs.- Sound quality is very good and loud if you need it. At 20% it's loud enough to fill a medium sized room.- Low price. If you search enough you can get it at a lower price than last year's 720p models on clearance or refurbished.Cons:- Specs on this TV are not always accurate, different specs. on Toshiba's website vs. owner's manual vs. on the box. For example when I weight my 32RV530U it is 26.5 pounds, which is better for me. I wonder what other specs are off.- Some fuzzyness with fast moving objects, maybe due to refresh rate (5-8ms)or 10 bit panel or 12 or 14 bit processor (listed in owner's manual.Whatever the true specs are this TV looks great either way for TV watching or used as a computer monitor.

4Very Pleased
By N. Kamal
I received the TV 3 days after ordering it from Beach Audio via Amazon. Arrived safe and sound, no dead pixels either. So far I am very pleased with the set. It took about 10 minutes to set up. As others have discussed it is a great looking set. I was hesitant to buy a TV with that black piano finish, because originally I thought it to be a little tacky, trendy and cheap looking. But Toshiba made it look good! It's nowhere near as shiny as I thought it would be.Now for the picture. It arrived with the picture set to "Sports" mode. This was too bright and over saturated for my taste. I switched to "Standard" mode and the colors are richer without being overly warm or loosing crispness. The set has a picture mode for "Movies" as well, and it really does give the display a movie-theateresque character. As for SD display, Id rate it at about 8/10. A relative's 42" 1080p Sony Bravia XBR displays these channels the same as or a little worse than the 32rv530u. Comcast HD movies on demand look incredible through the Motorola SCH3200 box with HDMI output. Overall, for this price, this is likely the best 32"-- and besides the Sharp, the only-- 1080p LCD on the market.I am anxiously awaiting my PS3 so I can bask in the glory of a 1080p signal.

5Excellent Picture
By Tweaker
I've owned this set for several weeks now and am very impressed by the overall picture quality. The images are sharp, the blacks are reasonably deep, the colors are well balanced, and there is no backlight bleeding. I recommend turning down the backlight to 50 or less (mine is at 40) to get the best picture. Sound quality is only mediocre but I use mine with a 5.1 surround system, so that is not a problem for me. I don't know how this set compares to Sony or Samsung because those sets will not fit in my cabinet, the Toshiba does - which is another plus for people with tight spaces. BTW, the dimensions given on the US web site for the set are incorrect - they slightly overstate the actual dimensions. Go to the Canadian website for the correct dimensions if this is critical to you. Also the owner's manual is available through the Canadian website.

4Amazing dark room LCD.
By Tyler Farnsworth
I spent hours researching and looking at TVs in the store before buying this 55" monster. I actually returned a plasma I had purchased in order to get this TV and I am very glad I did. This TV will require some playing around in the menu settings and the settings of your input source (HD TV cable box and PS3 for me). Once dialed in though, it shines. The previous reviewers are telling the truth about the glossy screen, it will rainbow on you with heavy light coming in from windows or anything else that's bright and pointed at the TV, however if you plan on putting it in a dark room like I did, its extremely nice. I could have gotten the smaller 46" version with the matte screen to eliminate this rainbow glare but this glossy screen gives deeper blacks if used in the right conditions and that is exactly what I wanted. The only down side to this TV besides the reflective screen is the input lag. It's not as great as some other LCD's out there but to be honest I'd rather have this slighter higher input lag while gaming than give up all the other qualities this TV brings to the table. You are going to be hard pressed to find an LCD out right now that does everything as well as this TV, but with better lag. So as long as you're ok with ~50-80 ms input lag in game mode, a screen that is really meant for a darker room, and can take the time to dial in all the settings, this TV is will make you one happy camper.

5Beautiful
By Capo
Wow, this TV is beautiful. The color, contrast, and brightness is amazing.Pros:* Color saturation is just right.* Darks are very dark for non-full-frame LED* Price - Amazing for a 55"* Feature set is awesome considering the price* Fully transparent glass makes the picture look that much more amazing, especially in the dark.Cons:* Fully transparent glass is glossy and can produce lots of glare if you have windows in a bad location. The screen has an ambient light sensor so I just turned up the brightness and at night during movies it automatically dims for the dark conditions* The viewing angle is perfect for +/- 15 degrees... outside of that, the darks grey out... it's really not that big a deal though* It's not free?Notes:* You MUST tweak the settings on this TV such as the auto-dimming feature. By default, it is set to a backlight level of 0 (zero)!!! I turned it up to 8 and it is super bright while the darks are very dark.* If you're like me, then you hate the 120/240 hertz smooth motion that is built into TVs, including this one. The first thing I did was turn it OFF. It looks unnatural IMO.Overall, this is an amazing TV well worth the money. I would suggest it to anyone as long as they realize that the screen is glossy because that could be the biggest issue with the TV. I also got the warranty because my last Samsung died after a year and a half (the warranties are only 1 year).

3Glossy and reflections
By D. Derenzo
I've had the TV for a little over a month. The screen is extremely glossy, reflective and has rainbows. (See pics). Black levels are decent, but a little muddy when in a darkened room. I've messed around with most of the settings and just can't get the blacks to show good detail. There is a very tiny flashlight effect in the two lower corners, but barely noticeable. Colors are good, but inconsistent when watching cable so it's probably not the TV's fault. I see occasional lip sync issues, but again I've only seen this watching cable and it's not all the time, so I don't think it's the TV. Off angle picture definitely degrades.During the day, or with any lights on, the TV is barely watchable due to reflections. I get rainbows if a light is on and faces the TV. The only time I get good viewing is at night with almost all the lights off. If you have any lights on they have to be very low and not face the TV. It's not just the screen that's glossy, its also the frame. It seems like Samsung designs TVs that look better when they are turned off than when viewing. Samsung used to claim on its website for 2010 models that the TV had a special coating that "virtually eliminates glare and reflections". This is a total lie and false advertising. I wonder if they were afraid of getting sued because it seems they have removed it.I turned the Auto motion plus off because some shows would "jerk" like it was skipping frames. This feature is also false advertising. I haven't seen any advantage to having this turned on and I have viewed sports, movies, concerts, blu-rays, etc. There is no headphone jack at all. If you want to use headphones there is a 3.5mm line out, but you will not be able to adjust the volume. I had to hook up a stereo receiver to the TV just to be able to use headphones. The one area this TV excels in my opinion in that there is almost zero motion blur which I am sensitive to.I compared all the 55 inch models over the past 3 years (expect Vizio TruLED. Couldn't find one anywhere) and was never happy with any of them. Plasmas are too hot, burn in, etc. LED inconsistent backlight, expensive. Strange bezels (TOC red?). The picture on this TV is 99% as good as the Samsung LEDs. Who cares about thinness? I don't look at it from the side.So why didn't I return it? I just can't find anything I like. All Samsung 55 inchers are glossy now. I looked at non glossy Sony and LG. I don't like the Sony bezel and I see more grain/motion blur on Sony's than Samsung. LGs look nice, but the picture doesn't seem to pop, black levels look worse and I see a little more motion blur than Samsungs. The LG 8500 model has the glossy screen as does the new high end Sonys. Maybe LG 55LD650, 55LE5400/5500 would have been a better way to go but the prices fluctuate and I didn't feel like going through the hassle of returning, getting a new TV and risking not being happy with that one and starting all over again. I am just tired of looking. My solution is to get a 40 or 46 inch version of this TV for my bedroom to watch during the day, because those models are non glossy and watch the big one only at night. If anyone knows of any type of large black screen I can place behind my couch to block reflections it would be greatly appreciated. Here are my current settings. If anyone has calibration suggestions, let me know:Mode: StandardBacklight: 14Contrast ratio: 100Brightness: 45Sharpness: 50Color: 52Tint: G50/R50Advanced settings:Black tone: OffDynamic contrast: LowShadow: 0Gamma: 0RBG only mode: OffColor space: NativeWhite balance: Factory settingFlesh tone: 0Edge enhancement: OnPicture options:Color tone: NormalSize: 16x 9Noise Filter: AutoMPEG noise filter: AutoHDMI back level: LowFilm mode: Auto 2Auto motion Plus 120 Hz: OffThe following is not directly related to the TV, but to those just jumping into HDTV:I've had several HDTVs over the years and always returned them. At first there was a lack of HD content. Now that's fixed, except cable TV still hasn't gotten their act together. You'll be watching a show in HD, then the commercials in SD. Sometimes they just stretch SD and distort the picture. Sometimes the HD channels have terrible HD quality. It drives me nuts that movies are in all different aspect ratios that create bars on the top, bottom and sides that transform your TV into a much smaller set. You will have bars on the top and bottom with 1:85, 2:20, 2:35 and 2:40. You will have bars on the side watching remastered classics like Gone with the Wind in 1:33. Also bars on the sides with IMAX content. Can you tell I hate widescreen? Panavision is a gimmick that movie theaters came up with when people started getting TVs in their homes to attract them to the movies again. Does not translate well in the home. Especially 2:40. James Cameron is the only director that will admit this and is why he insisted that Avatar blu-rays be in 16:9 to fit the whole screen. A much more satisfying and immersive viewing experience than watching an "anamorphic" 2:40 widescreen "sliver". I wish they would include two versions on the disk. Original widescreen format and 16x9 full screen version. Also, blu-rays having 4 and 5 disks just to watch one movie, like Blade Runner? Director cut, extended cut, etc. Just drives the price of the DVD up.

5Excellent choice, great delivery service
By JCM
I decided on the new Toshiba XV545U after extensive research, mainly for the overall design, combination of features and SRT technology.Delivery Service: I ordered direct from Amazon.com and the TV arrived the day after I placed the order (amazing); the "white glove" service was great - the guys handled it with care and brought it straight into the room where I set it up. Came in perfect condition.Ease of Set-up: I turned it on right out of the box with the default settings (most settings default to "auto") and the picture is great - the new AutoView feature takes care of most adjustments for you, so it is very simple to get up and going.Picture Quality: I have the TV hooked to a FiOS HD DVR box and Sony 350 BlueRay player via HDMI, and a Wii via Component Cable. So far, the picture looks fantastic overall. HDTV quality is excellent and BlueRay is awesome as expected. However, SRT is the real differentiator, as standard DTV signals look very good; have not tried a standard DVD yet. SRT does not seem to improve the quality of the Wii picture that much, but it is still good. The 120Hz implementation is also well done, as I do not see any motion blur.Matte Screen: the screen is a matte surface and does a great job of minimizing glare.Sound Quality: the sound is better than I expected from the SoundStrip technology - you do not even see the speakers, but the sound is decent (for built-in speakers).Design: the TV has a nice, rich look - very clean lines with the new double skin thin-line bezel and high-gloss black cabinet.Overall -- highly recommend this TV!

5Great s far!
By Don J. Desmarteau
I've had this TV for a month now, so I can not speak for it's reliability yet, but I can say that I am totally pleased with this TV so far. I comparison shopped for a couple of weeks before deciding on the 46XV545U. This TV was the best value and had the most bells and whistles for the money hands down. The picture is stunning in HD, BluRay and DVD's and I can even say standard def TV is not too bad either, although once you watch HD it is hard too settle for standard def. It's multi unit remote is well laid out and is now the only remote I use for my whole system, it runs the TV plus 3 other devices. It takes about 4 seconds for the TV to turn on and from what I've been reading that's in a pretty good range. The TV's menus are easy too navigate and well laid out. There are 6 picture mode settings - Auto View, Sports, Standard, Movie, PC, and user preference, the TV will remember which setting you have for each device which brings me to my only complaint so far, there is only one user preference setting so if you want to tweak the sports mode a little bit then that will be your user setting, then if you tweak the movie setting then that becomes the user setting and you lose the tweaked sports setting, although I liked the factory settings I would like to tweak each setting a little so 5 user preference spots would have been ideal, all in all not a big deal but it is something worth knowing about. This TV has plenty of inputs and I have tried them all, one thing worth metioning is the VGA D-Sub PC input can only handle the following settings: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768 and 1280x1024. I hooked up my PC through the HDMI input and it was stellar at full 1080p resolution. The sound from this TV was more than exceptable but I have surround sound so I do not use the TV speakers.I choose not to buy the extended warrenty after reading reviews on them. you get 1 year manufacter warrenty and my credit card covers the second year for free so it was not worth the extra money to get a third or fourth year of coverage, so I hope this TV will last!Delivery took one week, and I bought direct from Amazon with the "white glove" delivery. They can unpack the TV and take away the box, but I reccomend keeping the box in case any returns are needed. I had this TV unpacked and setup in less than 15 minutes. In summation, I think you will not find a better TV for a little over $1600 bucks that has all the features of this one. As long as this TV does not break down I will be very happy with my purchase.

4Good HD TV, great price but SRT not really work
By K. Su
[...]Anyway, I agreed all the review above. The pictures quality is great and sound is good enough. What really disappoints me is the SRT feature that supposes to upconvert everything, but I found this feature is not really work like the way it should be.I have another 1 year old Philips 47" LCD TV. Both Philips and Toshiba have great pictures in HD. I compare the std Channel between my Phillips and Toshiba with SRT. The Toshiba SRT not really improves the pictures quality at all. I also have two Sony DVD players (same model) one for the Philips and one for the Toshiba. I did see the Toshiba SRT improve my DVD pictures quality a little, but if I compared the pictures quality with my Pioneer DV-400V-K upconvert DVD. My Pioneer DV-400V-K upconvert the pictures much better than the Toshiba SRT.Another complains about this Toshiba is the pictures size setting. When you switch between TV inputs from TV to DVD, this TV won't remember your last pictures size setting. Every time I turn on my Sony DVD, this Toshiba always default to 4:3 screen size. My last setting was widescreen 16:9. I don't have this problem when I watch my Philips. But overall, I am happy with what I get. At least for what I paid for.

5Excellent TV
By Pete
I was between buying this LN46C550 or a more expensive LED 3D Samsung TV. I am glad that I bought this one and saved a lot of money. This is an excellent TV, the picture quality is extremely good. I was concerned that the 60Hz would be inferior to 240Hz technology; but the picture is perfect, I can't really tell the difference! Do yourself a favor and save some of your hard earned money and buy thus TV instead of much more expensive ones; you'll be happy!

5Samsung delivers yet another great HDTV!
By Vernon E. Grier
I purchased the Samsung LN46C550 HDTV last month and finally got it installed this week by professional installers and I must say that this HDTV is great! Black levels, color saturation, are all excellent, this HDTV even has a wireless link connection (must be purchased separately)! This is my first HDTV but not my first Samsung TV and I must say that in keeping with the tradition of high quality TV sets, this is another fine entry in Samsung's catalog!

4Samsung 46" LCD TV - runs in the middle of the pack
By WPB Consulting
This is my second LN46C550. The first arrived with a strange audio problem where the sound would have interference for a brief second several times a minute. Kudos however to Amazon who quickly sent a replacement that is working fine.I purchased this TV for the bedroom, and can compare it to the Samsung UN55B7000 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV I have as our primary TV. The UN55B7000 was last years 120 Hz edge-lit LED model that is really a great TV except for the poor flashlighting produced by the edge-lit design, and its poor DLNA support. With all the frustration I had with that, I almost swore off Samsung for good.So how does this LN46C550 compare to a TV that cost more than twice as much? Actually, pretty well. I have this connected to a Samsung BD-C6500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player and the HD 1080p is rendered pretty well, however, this being a tube backlit LCD at 60 Hz, there are most definitely some differences in picture quality between the two.VIDEO:The fit and finish of the TV with its Touch of Color design (matches the UN55B7000) is nicely done. The firmware for this years TVs (the C series) is much better than last years. There is a plethora of configuration options for tuning display parameters. While the set comes with 4 preset picture modes, they are woefully over-saturated and inaccurate. Many of the dynamic adjustments are noticeable and intrusive, making them more bother than they are worth. Spending an evening with the Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition [Blu-ray] is well worth the effort. The display can be tuned to a respectable level of accuracy for all but the most critical viewer.AUDIO:Yeah. 10 Watts x 2. Basically, two little downward-firing tin cans. While it has some sophisticated audio signal processing, and preset sound modes like voice enhancement (very handy) and Virtual Surround, no DSP magic is going to trick you into believing you aren't listening to two very cheap, underpowered speakers. Luckily this does have a digital audio out connector.FEATURES:The TV has a wide variety of features and connectivity options. I specifically chose a TV that has DLNA capability. This years models are a little better in supporting it than last years. I currently use a wired connection to my network, and a PC with Twonky and Mezzmo to stream recorded TV shows. Samsung hasn't figured out how to support Windows Media streaming. However, I must say that the Windows 7 "Play To" feature now works with the C series sets in a limited fashion, no FF or RW.The remote is functional, but nothing to write home about. The TV supports AnyNet+, so you can use the remote to control other Samsung connected stuff.Another neat feature is the On/Off timers, which allow you to use the TV like an alarm clock if you wish.SUMMARY:All-in-all, a lot of features for the money. While it's not going to knock the socks off the vipheophile in the family, the extra features overcome its average picture and audio quality Samsung does have some quality control issues, but so far, offer a decent buying experience. Would I buy it again. Yes.

4Vizio SV421XVT
By Carista J. Gamble
The Vizio SV421XVT, is a very nice 42 inch lcd TV. With 120hz refresh rate, and 240hz scenes per second, this television offers depth perception found only in high end LED TVs.The picture quality and black levels are very nice. The smooth motion is very visible and beautiful. Although we had to return 2 televsions to Vizio because they came with Stuck Bright Pixels, we are still very pleased with the TV over all.I would not recommend buying a Vizio from Vizio directly. The swap out of the units we had with Stuck Pixels with Vizio was a long painful process, but that does not take away from the picture quality of this unit. I would suggest going the route of Amazon or Wally World when purchasing, no questions asked returns.I updated this review and have shortened it greatly to focus back on the quality and performance of this unit.Amazons customer service is great, but PILOT delivery is bogus, it is not white glove and they are liars. That being said, I would recommend the SV421XVT to anyone wanting a good quality LCD at a reasonable price. It does not come with the bluetooth remote, no apps, no wifi, no 3d, and it does not hold a mega contrast ratio in the millions, this is a late 2009 model LCD, but at the current Amazon asking price, it would be perfect for the standard families everyday use.Deep blacks, little to no judder, bright whites, and crisp accurate color. 4 stars.

5Can't beat it for the price.
By D. Sanders
I purchased the Vizio SV421VXT from Amazon on February 6th, got it on February 12th. That's six days, and it didn't move for one of them due to bad weather. You'll see some complaints around about the shipping company for large items (CEVA) but I had no issues at all with them. Delivery company called, I told them I was at work, but could be home at any time for them to deliver, they just brought it to my work instead (at my request). This may not be an option for some, but it worked out great for me since I didn't have to take any time off from work to have it delivered. However, this review is for the TV, not the delivery company. The set works great. I upgraded from a 27" CRT television to this 42" LCD, and obviously, the difference is stunning. We don't have HDTV yet, but even my standard definition Dish Network looks pretty good, as does my regular DVD player over S-Video. Blu-Ray and games on my PS3 look simply amazing. I find the sound quality to be very good without external speakers, but my living room is on the small side (the seating is about 8' from the TV)Probably the only complaint I could say about this TV yet is that the cable they provide to hook to the wall so it won't fall over (if you aren't wall mounting) is kind of unsightly. However, most people probably won't use it, and this is a very minor detail. I just used it because, for one, this is a big purchase for me and I don't want to take any chances, and we have two cats that like to climb on top of the TV where it's warm...I don't think they could even lay on top of this TV, but I'm sure they will try.I did months of research on HDTVs before settling on this model from Vizio. Overall, I found that no matter which TV you look at, there are negative reviews. Given that, no matter which TV I purchased, I would have gotten an extended warranty to cover it in case I got one of the bad ones. With the Vizio, I was able to get a quality set with the extended warranty for less that I could have gotten a bigger name brand without the extended warranty.Of note to anyone that is looking at 240Hz, Vizio uses a different technology to achieve 240Hz than does Sony. I'm not saying this makes it better or worse, because I haven't compared them, but take that into consideration.

5Football games won't be the same!
By John E. Wineke
I upgraded my 120hz Vizio to this model for my family room and can't believe the clearity! The colors are crisp, the picture is 2nd to none. You can actually see the laces on a football while in the air on a spiral. For the difference in price from the 120 to the 240hz spend it! I did and have 0 regrets. The best TV I've ever watched mutchless in my own home!
