4good tv for the pricw
By mvwcpa
In response to the above review about it being 60hz not 120hz,I have pasted a copy of an email I received from westinghouse regarding this issue:I understand you had a question in regards to the 120hz feature of your Television. The model you provided, the CW46T9FW is indeed a 120hz model TV. We've realized our customers may be confused by the TV's on screen display which shows 60hz. The purpose of the on screen display is to show information of the signal being received by the TV from your video source. For example, it may display the following video resolutions from a cable/satellite receiver, 480i/p, 720p, or 1080i/p.The TV will also display the incoming refresh rate from your source. Historically, average refresh rates are 60hz-72hz, however, 60hz is the standard for most video sources. Although you see 60hz on the information window, the TV processes and converts all content to 120hz to improve motion estimation and compensation. Please let me know if you have any questions.Thank You, Eric Gamboa | Sr. Customer Support SpecialistWestinghouse Digital, LLCIt is a good value and a good tv. And no, I don't work for westinghouse!

4excellent picture for the price
By Arthur T. Bliss
Got a super deal on this tv at Tiger Direct and am very happy with the tv. However the remote has some issues. The volume control does not work much of the time. I have to press it multiple times just to get a response. The batteries are good so that is not the problem. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. For $346 for a 46 inch lcd tv it is hard to complain about anything.

4Not bad, crap sound though
By N. H Kan
At first, i pretty much used this in a small corner to play Modern Warfare 2. The picture is pretty darn good and i had no problems spotting people from far off if i sat close to the screen (3 ft. from my face). I think i tweeked a few settings to get it to look the way I wanted, but once i did, it was awesome. The only thing i don't like about this tv that really got on my nerves are the speakers. They are absolute crap. From what i hear, this is a common trait in Dynex tvs. It's like having an old radio playing in the bathroom while your ears are submerged in water, muffled and echo-y. Since i was always playing so close to the thing anyway, i went and bought a pair of headphones and an extension cable for it and plugged it into the jack in the tv and the sound was pretty good then. Wearing the XBox headset while gaming was interesting though. I think if you can buy a cheap pair of powered speakers that have a standard headphone jack, it should solve the problem too.About 6 months ago, i started using this as my computer monitor. It's native resolution is 1360x768 (which means that 720 picture is actually upscaled to that, but it does a good job of it), and if you use it as a computer monitor, it has to run at that resolution or everything looks like soup. If you do have it set to that resolution, everything looks awesome. Unfortunately for me that is kind of a low resolution (old monitor was 1280x1024), but i can't afford a monitor that would utilize my computer's max potential. My computer is on 24/7, and i have this set to go to screen saver after 10 minutes and turn off the monitor after 10 minute after that. I have had no problems with the tv acting up or anything, though it takes a few seconds to turn on, which is kind of annoying coming back after it's been powered off and you want to get on and check the weather real quick before stepping out. So it's not the best computer monitor choice.Overall, it's a reliable tv with good picture and crap speakers, but using external speakers fix that for the most part. It makes an ok computer monitor and it has lasted me over a year with no problems. Between the price and picture quality, i'd have given it a 5 star rating if the speakers weren't absolute crap.

4Wall Mount
By Dblain
I'd like to know if there is a specific wall mount needed for this television?Or is it just a size fit that is important as far as mounting.:)I've never mounted a television before. In all seriousness, this is a question more than a review.Although I obviously own the television or I'd not want to mount it. Mine has worked well long over its warranty, my only complaint is that the internal speakers don't have enough oomph all on their own.

4Needs a sound boost
By stephie
I needed to replace my old 19" CRT TV (yes really) because my cable company got rid of all analog channels and I hated having to turn on devices just to check the weather.I couldn't find any reviews anywhere on this TV and it's one of the few brands I recognized. My HDD's are Phillips and they're awesome so I had hoped this TV would be too. This Phillips was meant to be the one I watched the most but 22" was too small for that (bought a 26" Vizio for that purpose) so it's been put to use in another room instead.I use this TV daily and coming from a CRT, WOW, there's a major difference in the picture. All the 1080 channels are just beautiful with crisp clear colors. Sound-wise though it could use a boost. I suggest adding external speakers to this unit because the speakers are in the back and aim upwards, so if you have it in a TV cabinet like I do, the sound will be too low in your average sized room. The remote and settings are intuitive and easy to use. The TV was easy to connect, lots of cable options (component, HDMI, etc.). I can say that even though I didn't need or want to replace my old TV I do not miss it. Even with wide screen everything, which for me, takes some getting used to, I'm liking this.I wish there were more reviews but I got a great price and so far am happy with this purchase.

41 minor hiccup
By N. Bolerjack
I bought this TV for my wife in the bedroom and it is perfect for that application. Its beautiful and bright. My only complaint is that in the "technical details" it claims to have 3 HDMI ports, but in fact it only has one. I was really disappointed to discover this upon arrival because that was a selling feature for me. According to the paperwork, the 26" and up versions have the 3 HDMI.

5Great tv
By M. Turner
I was looking to replace the tv in my daughter's bedroom. She is only 3 years old. I am familiar with the Philips brand because we already owned a 32" and a 60". I thought it was best to stick with what I knew. When this arrived I was pleased and surprised. The tv has touch sensors on it instead of buttons. Sound quality is good and it is even slimer than the other tvs in the house. I don't think there is anything to complain about.

5Amazing Value
By R Pen
This is the first LCD TV I've bought so I did a tone of research before finally settling on this unit.Things I love about this TV:-The backlight on this thing turns way up so you don't have to worry about having dark scenes like in Interview with the vampire you can't see. The wide viewing angle is also great.-On the quick menu you can easily change the sound between Music and Cinema and I can actually hear the difference. Yes they are tv speakers not surround sound but for my studio apartment it is more then adequate.-I noticed I was getting a little noise on the sound when I had the Clear Voice on but totally fixed it when I put the Auto Volume option on in the audio main menu.-I keep the tv on a lot for music during the day since I work from home and there is this great button on the remote labeled energy where you can quickly adjust from 100% which is the best for viewing to maximum energy saving. I like this not only for the energy savings but also to save the back light from 100% constant use.-I noticed that one of my shows off of my Roku (digital box that streams netflix) wasn't HD and the picture wasn't looking to hot. I adjusted on the picture main menu the aspect ratio to Just Scan and it actually cleaned it up really nicely. This is important, several of my friends have really ritzy tv set ups but if it's not HD the picture is almost unbearable. This one you can watch older movies/tv shows and HD without having to fiddle with everything to get a good picture.-Overall picture quality can be adjusted by so many advanced options that if you play with it I'm sure you can get exactly what you want.-I know it is 720 versus 1080 but at this price range when I looked at the specs if you go for 1080 it seems that you will get dark spots in dark scenes and it's refresh rate will be so low that you will notice it in quick scenes plus the audio seemed unreliable. I think at this 32inch size 720 is really not that noticeable.Very satisfied customer. Only complaint is you need 4 screws to attach the tv to it's base and my baggy only came with 3 in it. Luckily the hardware store is right down the street so I was able to get something comparable instead of waiting for them to ship it.Do your self a favor, get some good HDMI cables with noise reduction that can handle full HD (found some on amazon for like $7). I haven't experienced any blurring at all on this tv while watching movies/shows like others have commented about. Regular cables don't cut it and you won't want to wait when your tv arrives.Happy Viewing

5Simply Awesome!
By papamac67
I have been waiting patiently for a few years now to make the switch from my 480i Toshiba 32" CRT to an HDTV. Thanks to a decent tax return I was finally able to join the Hi Def club. I live in a small apartment and already had a nice entertainment center which housed my aging Toshiba so I chose to stay with the 32" screen format as anything larger would not fit. After doing weeks of research it came down to this LG or the Samsung LN32C350. I found the picture quality to be almost identical and the price was the same for both, $399.00. I chose the LG because I got 10% off with a online coupon and no tax and free shipping from another online retailer. I couldn't be happier! This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. The TV is fantastic!, picture is bright, sharp, clear and gorgeous. The contrast ratio listed here is wrong though...it's not 50,000:1...it's actually 70,000:1...which is even better. I love the remote, easy to use menu and all the functions and options you can tweak. it's such an unbelievable difference seeing TV shows and movies in Hi Def. I can't comment on the sound as I have the TV speakers turned off because I have a pretty kick-ass surround sound system. I am A Dish Network subscriber and have it hooked to my VIP612 receiver and am loving it...also finally able to play my Xbox 360 in Hi Def and that is Da Bomb too!...BF:BC2 looks amazing! I was debating whether to get a 1080p or a 720p TV for a long time...then I found out (which I didn't realise) all HD TV signals...OTA (over the air), DirecTv, Cable, Dish Network are all broadcast in 720p/1080i...and since I don't watch blu-ray movies...spending extra money on a 1080p set just wouldn't make sense...also...on a TV 32" or less..the benefits of watching in 1080p are negligible. 720p looks phenomenal! It has a 1 year parts and labor warranty, and after you register it with LG you can extend your warranty by 2 years for $48...provided you do it in the 1st 180 days after purchase, so altogether you get a 3 year warranty for $48...from the manufacturer...not some 3rd party outfit, that's pretty good...I'll be doing that b4 my 180 days are up. I can't recommend this TV more...I am now an LG fanboy.

4Worth a buy for the price.
By N. Mehta
*** See posts from U. Viveros (Aug 8th) for info on the panel display on this tv***Picture quality on this tv is excellent (it has an IPS panel), black levels are impressive, color is vibrant. And you can tweak the picture to your likeing with a ton of various options. Took me a while to get the picture quality just right for gaming, HD content and SD content. SD tv actually looks pretty good on this tv, suprisingly sharp picture quality on it. Though this being a LCD tv the picture isn't crystal clear, in darker areas you can see some obvious blurring or trailing (but only if you really want to notice, and its not as bad as the latest Samsung), in brighter areas blurring is not noticeable at all (in Modern Warfare 2 for example darker wood textures you can see the blur when moving, on brighter wall textures there is no blur).Speakers are decent, not going to blow you away with the sound but they aren't complete crap either. Like the picture - sound also has various tweaking options.Remote is pretty standard, doesn't look cheap and doesn't go overboard with the options. But is has everything you'd accept to be on it.Also has a headphone jack (and unlike Samsungs you can control the volume of the headphone jack with your remote). You can also display pictures or play music with a usb stick, I don't think I'll be using this feature. Would've been nice if it allowed you to play videos from the usb stick...but they only have that feature on their higher end models. One problem is that if you switch the input to hdmi and then go back to AV or TV input...there is no sound. You have the turn off the tv and turn is back again to get the sound back.4/5.I paid $[...], amazon now dropped the price.

5Excellent LED TV
By Eugene Evans
I am very impressed with this tv so far...The TV itself is very sleek and modern looking. Its one of thinnest LED's I have seen and would be great for mounting on the wall. The thin black border is very nice and actually makes the screen look even bigger!!The stand is also very modern looking and all the trim is a nice glossy black finish. The picture quality is amazing as well.I went from a 47" Vizio to this LG and its a world of difference!!..The colors are very vibrant and the black is dense. The adjustments and settings are very easy to use and can make a world of difference!!..Especially if you find the codes for THX settings!! The sound is ok,for this one.I would say its the only thing that could use use some improvement. Overall this TV is the best bang for the buck!!..I have owned about 15 LCD/LED tv's and so far, this is one of the best by far!!

5The Reason LG is Winning
By Tim
While Panasonic, Sony and Samsung all battle each other for who's TV is best, LG saving the money and passing it on to the user, specifically me. This TV is loaded with everything you would expect in a 2012 TV minus the fads or undeveloped programs. This one caught my eye because it is so thin and the price is amazing. The bezel on it is very thin and the TV without the stand is under a inch and a half thick. I bought this to replace my old dinosaur of a Sharp TV (also an under-rated brand). It is still a great TV, but at almost 6inches wide it was a heavy best. This TV, although not recommended, I am able to hold in one arm it is so thin and light. The picture is great, but I am never a huge fan of edge lit LED as they always appear lighter/whiter at the edges. It isn't a huge deal expect a really dark scene in a movie, and is most noticeable when loading a game or movie and the input is blank. The screen should be black but is grey around the edges. That was a rather large rant, but it is not by any means a turn off from this TV.I am a big fan of LG Simplink, although not flawless it easily allows the connection of a surround sound unit with only a few button pushes on the remote. I do appreciate the picture calibrator, but I found some user adjustments were still needed as the TV couldn't get it quite right. The sound is pretty weak on the TV itself, but that is almost expected these days. I simply got a sound bar to go with it and it suffices for the sized room this TV is in.Pros:+Amazon Price+Thin Bezel and Thin Body+Great 1080p pictureCons:-Underwhelming sound-LED Edge lightingOverall you would be lucky to find a better built TV in this price range. Keep it up LG.

4Very good product, for the money
By Dan C
We bought this tv based on research plus Amazon reviews, as we normally do. It is very good: clear picture plus decent sound.. It's not the best tv out there, but probably the best valus for the money. I gave it 4 stars because:- this tv replaced a 5 year old Samsung that had developed black streaks on half the picture (probably the backlight going out). This tv doesn't have as many outputs as the replacement. Only way to hook to an external stereo system is through optical cord, which I understand doesn't pass through full 5.1 stereo.- no earphone jack (old Samsung had one)- for some reason, can't program my existing AT&T Uverse remote to operate the new tv. So we have 2 remotes, one for Uverse channels & box, and the LG remote for tv on/off and volume. Just a little nuisance.- very easy to put together and set-up. Had to tweak the picture several times, but ended up going with the included "wizard" settings, which produces a good picture with very little work.- out of the box, the sound does sound a little tinny. Had to tweak this a little as well through the audio "clarity" settings.- this tv has led lighting, which does produce more color "pop" than the Samsung it replaced.Probably could have found a better tv with more features and better sound, but for the money, this is a good buy. (Also, just happened to buy it 1 day before Amazon started charging Texas residents sales tax, so saved a little money there).Update: December 17, 2012I was able to set up my system to have full 5.1 pass through my stereo system. So this is not an issue. After 5 months, picture is still incredible. Programming AT&T Uverse remote still an issue, but only a minor nuisance. Still very happy with the purchase. This is a great tv, especially for the price.

4Good Quality for the money
By granthas
The TV has a very good picture, but the sound is lacking. Audio appears to sound like it is coming out of a tube. I had to buy an sound bar to get decent quality. Other than that, we are very pleased with it.

5Pleasantly surprised!
By PAULACLF
I went to Walmart to see this product in person. I was going to buy it from Walmart but saw that Amazon offered it at a lower price and with free delivery. I was a little worried buying such a big ticket item online and was not sure if it would be delivered to my house in one piece. I was plesantly surprised to have no problems with this item. It is working wonderfully and couldn't be happier with the quality and the price!!

5Just as promised
By Crazy4Sting
We purchased this after returning another brand with a faulty screen/picture. Amazon picked it up within 24 hours with no hassles to us (except repacking it). We spent a few extra $$ over our budgeted amount for a TV but it was well worth it. The picture is fantastic and clear from over 15' away. It was easy to set up in our home and connect to our satellite, DVD, and Wii. However, we've not used the Wii yet with this set. I would definitely purchase again/recommend to a friend.

4Great 40", Great price!
By William P. Clark
This is a great TV, especially for the price. My main TV is a nice 42" LG and this one is not quite on par with the LG, but still a darn good TV.Pros: Price, picture, sound.Cons: Cheap remote, slow channel change.Note: Like other reviews here you'll find that out of the box this TV is dark. If you try to increase the Backlight you'll find that nothing happens. That's because the Backlight settings are turned off by Energy Saver.Go into Setup and turn Energy Saver OFF and now you can adjust your Backlight and get a nice looking picture.Replace the cheap remote with a better one and you're all set. (The remote really is horrible)

3Mostly good
By J. Warren
This flat screen is very bright. The colors are clear with good even saturation. No dead pixels. Very easy to set up. The stand is sturdy and even though the flatpanel is rather light it feels very solid.Sadly I had to deduct two stars for four reasons.1. It's VGA PC input is incapable of 1920x1080 at 60Hz. If an $87.oo 21" LCD Acer screen can take full HD through VGA then so should a $400.oo LCD screen.>>>>>>Turns out that TOSHIBA has intentionally crippled Full-HD through the PC/VGA input. The RGB Component input can take Full HD though.Crazy huh? Why would TOSHIBA do this? It's quite annoying to lose an essential input. The VGA input can only properly display 4:3 resoltions.2. The only analog (RCA) sound output option is a bit noisy, (lots of hiss). Hooking up to non-optical equipped receivers is a waste of time.3. Remote control has poor responsiveness, often needing repeated button pushing and hard mashing to work.4. PC hook up though HDMI was more succesful, but took a lot of patience and repeated efforts for only marginal success. (read instructions closely)>>>Update July 18th 2012.Screen began taking longer and longer to reach full brightness. Something appears to be wrong with the CFL backlighting system. This recent problem coupled with the lack of a usable VGA PC input has led with me no recourse other than to send it back. This model is one the best selling on the web, and for most people it's a good product. I just got a bad one.If you don't need a VGA input or a clean analog audio output then this screen's positives outweigh its negatives.

5Great Bargain TV
By Tim
First realize that the dimensions where entered in error. This TV is not 1.8" but actually 3.9" without the stand. That is what you would expect for a TV this size anyways. This TV, unlike most TV does have a auto dimmer to help save energy and the life of the screen. I find it to operate a little cheaply, and enjoy the picture much more with the auto-dimming off. As a reference, I own a high-end HDTV as well and that one I left the auto-dimming on as it performs wonderfully. The picture on this TV meets my expectations for a cheap TV, the blacks and whites are decent and the 60Hz performs nicely. I do like that they actually put some effort into this unit with the ability to produce clear sound with what they call Audyssey Premium Television. I haven't noticed that the sound is better than average, but more importantly I haven't noticed the sound is bad. A 40" at $400 is a great buy and hard to beat.
