1Needs Improvement
By Potsy
After reading the reviews on the TCL LCD's, I decided to give the TCL LED a chance. I ordered the LED and a day later the television had already been delivered. Quick to set it up, my intial impressions were that it was decent. I tweaked out the calibration based on some specs that I found on a TCL forum. After the calibrations had been adjusted, the picture quality was solid. I would have been a little disappointed if this had been my primary television based on a comparison with the Samsung LCD that I currently have in my living room. However, since this television's primary purpose was for my bedroom, I was happy for the moment. The happiness was short lived however. After a couple of days, the television became upresponsive when trying to turn it on. At first I thought that I might be overreacting due to the fact that there is no indicator when the television turns on so I would hit the power button multiple times waiting for a response and eventually it would turn on. Concerned that there might be an issue with television, I put it to a test where I would hit the power button and wait. When nothing happened, I physically got up and hit the power button on the television and still nothing happened. Knowing a little bit about electronics, I unplugged the television for 30 seconds to let the hardware reset itself. After plugging the LED back in, it turned on without hassle. However, this solution was short lived and a day later I found myself repeating the process again. At this point I began debating what I should do with the television. TCL offers a 2 year warranty on all of their televisions and the actual design of the LED was very sharp and durable. My debate on whether or not to return the television was settled fairly quick when the sound of the television went out entirely. The picture was working fine but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the sound to work. This was my breaking point and I decided to return the television. Since I liked the design and reviews for the other TCL televisions were so good, I decided to give TCL another chance figuring that I might have just gotten a lemon.I ordered another TCL LED and once again it was promptly on my doorstep. This time however I had issues with the LED from the moment it was out of the box. It wouldn't turn on and when I finally got it turned on as soon as I turned it off, it wouldn't turn back on. So once again, it went back. Instead I ordered an LG 32LV3400 and couldn't be happier with it. The picture is much more vibrant with a brighter whites and darker blacks because of the contrast ratio. Plus, the LG models offers a variety of extra perks that the TCL didn't offer like a built in color calibration program to help you tweak your picture. By comparison, there is NO COMPARISON. The LG is far superior overall. The one positive to note in this experience was that the seller Circuit City was fantastic. Both televisions were promptly delivered and returned all at NO cost to me. After dealing with them on both the TCL's, I wished that I would have been able to find my LG with them because they were great.

5Great TV for the price
By Pat
Had never heard of a TCL TV, but because of the reviews we purchased it for our bedroom. Perfect size and gets an amazingly clear and vibrant color picture. We had no problems setting it up and are very happy with the TV.

1Basic Problems
By D. Simpson
Pros: The LE32HDD20 is a basic TV with a nice bright picture. The colors are clear & and the picture is sharp. Setup was fairly simple. Sound quality is acceptable. The overall appearance of the TV is good & the stand is sturdy.Cons: I have been though two of these and am about to return the second. The first TV I received was difficult to turn on with the remote. Most of the time, we had to turn it on with the button on the back of the TV. Sometimes when we turned the TV on, it would cycle through the input options screen. The only way to stop it was to unplug the power cord & plug it back in. The second TV will sometimes not turn on even with the power button on the back of the TV. The only way we've been able to turn it on is to unplug the power cord & then plug it back in again. I've had a similar problem with the sound. Sometimes when the TV is turned on, the sound will not work at all. The only solution that appears to work is unplugging the power cord.Other thoughts: I haven't seen similar complaints on this TV, so it's possible I just got two bad ones from the same batch. However, I'm not going to give it a third chance.

4Very nice for the price
By funman1steve@hotmail.com
Love this thing, it's a no frills (no netflix, hulu, etc built in)Just a plain simple TV that works and looks amazing!!Watch out for the energy saving feature. took me an hour or so to realize why the picture was so dark.Go turn off the energy saver and the screen will not go dark when the lights are turned off.ALSO you need to disable it for each input! It remember them separately.Great unit, no complaints really other then the eco-mode on by default. And contrast ratio is simply amazing!!

4Great TV for the living room!
By Mikee
If you want a 55" HDTV that gives you an amazing picture WITHOUT charging you with any bells and whistles then this is the perfect HDTV. Though this TV does not have wifi to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. All you have to do is connect your Blu-ray player with wifi, apple tv or roku that you already have then, WALLAH! Grab your self a bag of chips and enjoy! - (I connected my PS3)Pro:- Looks amazing and easy to setup.- Menu and settings button are easy to navigate.- Pictures clarity and color accuracy is great.Con:- USB does not play movie on flash drive. Only pictures and music.- 2 HDMI is not enough for a TV that doesn't have internet.- Black levels are just ok. A bit cloudy in really dark scenes. One thing that I notice was that the tv goes dim when I turn off all the lights and it goes bright when the lights are on but that problem can be solved by pressing one button on the remote! (Energy saving button) :)

2You will NOT SEE "120Hz TruMotion" on this TV
By Michael Ruppeck
This review is tricky... I paid a great price for this TV, and by most standards, this TV is a great value. The picture is very good, it's stylish with a thin bezel, set-up was a breeze, and I really liked the "picture calibration wizard" tool.Yet, I'm VERY upset with this purchase because LG, as well as most retailers who sell the 55LS4500, list this HDTV as "TruMotion 120Hz" - in fact "TruMotion 120Hz" is featured on the TV box packaging! I got the TV set up, went through all of the set up options, and nowhere is there an option to toggle on or off the TruMotion feature. I then went to the LG support website, noticed that there was a firmware update available for this model. I successfully updated the TV and still nothing about the 120Hz feature. I tried many TV channels and Blu-Ray, re-checked the TV options menu, and nothing. I've seen 120Hz before, its the very apparent "soap opera effect" that greatly enhances watching sports or console game playing, and on the other hand, can make movies seem "too real" or "live" - and akward looking.I called LG support, and they insisted that the 120Hz feature is "always on". The LG service rep also added the following:"Thank you for contacting LG Electronics USA. I am delighted to hear from you as our valued customer and I will be glad to answer your concern. Normal video broadcasts are received at 60 Hz. Blu-ray players' signals at 60/30/24 Hz. Our products generally receive the signal at 60 Hz or 24 Hz depending on the output of signal. TruMotion increases the refresh rate to 120 Hz, 240 Hz or 480 Hz depending on the model, thus smoothing the picture and creating a more realistic movement on screen. You may check the TruMotion settings under the Picture Option menu. The TV will only display the refresh rate of the signal it is receiving. Therefore, it will always display 24/30/60 Hz because, that is the only type of signal being output by a broadcast or DVD/Blu-ray. The TV will never shown 120 Hz as the refresh rate. On the other hand, this does not mean that the TruMotion is not active or working. The TV is processing the signal either through the main board using MEMC (Motion Estimation & Motion Compensation) or by using Backlight Scanning. I hope I was able to help you with your concern."Well, first, LG needs to train thier reps better. This model DOES NOT have "TruMotion settings under the Picture Option menu" ... but, to be sure I wasnt going crazy, I finally set up the 55LS4500 TV RIGHT NEXT to my LG 55LM6200 that I KNOW has 120Hz. I set the two tv's up using one Blu-Ray player with a split HDMI signal. The LG 55LM6200 is fine!! with VERY OBVIOUS 120Hz refresh!!So, "No", LG service rep, you didnt "help me with my concern"Lastly, on the last page of the user manual that came with the TV (where Tech specs are listed) it says in plain black and white the MAXIMUM SUPPORTED Horiz/Vert Hz is "67.50Hz"!!! LG and retailers need to advertise this TV as 60Hz refresh.I'd like to add, that if you dont care about any "smooth motion" feature, then this is a great value. I did care, for the purposes of this TV however, and thats why I'm so dissapointed. I dont like the misleading product feature description, nor did I appreciate the response from LG. LG can tell me all day long that the 120Hz TruMotion is "always on" - fine, its always on, you just wont see it. Just like I am leaving this "5-star review" ... keep looking, trust me, the 5-stars are there.

5Really nice LCD... good customer service
By A. Williams
I received my tv with a damaged panel. Thankfully, Samsung provides free in-home repair for their products through their authorized repair agents. It was a good experience, relatively hassle free, and now the TV looks as good as it should have to begin with. It has all of the basic functions that you'd look for, including 2 HDMI and 2 component inputs, and a host of picture settings. The sound is fine but not thrilling, and chances are it's a bedroom tv (my situation) or you have a surround sound hookup through the digital audio out. I am very pleased with the depth of the blacks, as at 8,000:1 the contrast ratio is as high as many plasmas were just a year ago. The color accuracy is quite good (once you do some calibration to your tastes) and the dedicated brightness setting helps you customize it to the brightness of the room you are in. I haven't noticed any false conturing nor any motion blur, as the refresh rate is also good. Though maxing out at 1080i/720p, at this size the extra dollars for 1080p are really wasted. Save your money there and get a 19-in LCD for the kitchen! My simple, yet favorite, feature is the input recognition. No cycling through all possible inputs to get to the one you want; only active inputs come up when cycling through your sources. Nothing really negative to say... other than the lag between turning on the set and getting a picture, but that is a common LCD trait. The TV's design is attractive, has all of the features you really need, and was a really reasonable price (thank you Lightning Deals!). I recommend it.

4Among the best at this size ...
By M. C. Sample
Having worked previously as an electronics salesman, I have a working knowledge of HDTVs. I always recommended the Samsung models as "among the best," but never had seen one within a home and running as most consumers would. Until recently ...My mother owns this model and has for a few weeks now. It's classy-looking with a glossy outer bezel and an oval stand (included). The TV itself seems larger than the competitors, simply because the speakers are located on the sides. This helps give a more natural-sounding stereo effect without the extra cost of a home theater system. It's just got a high-end, quality look to it. Samsung LCDs are renowned for having a top-notch viewing angle. This holds true with this model. Stand nearly 180° to the side, and the picture is still bright and clear. LCDs have come a long way in a few short years. The remote is well-marked and easy to use. TV-accessed menus are simple and quick to navigate. My mother, not well-versed in knowledge of consumer electronics, was able to configure the settings herself with very little help.Unlike lower-end competitors, though, this 3-series Samsung does not offer any separate composite hookups (the 3 red, white, and yellow plugs). One of the component hookups must be used in place. If you have, say, a DVD/VCR combo, Dish Network (non-HD), and a Nintendo Wii to all hookup, you're out of luck. There simply isn't room for more than 2 non-HD inputs. It can be annoying to have to repeatedly unplug and replug items into your new TV. If you plan on using at least one of the HDMI plugs, though, this problem is avoided. However, be aware that most direct competitors do offer more non-HD hookups. For the price, you can find larger TVs. Big retailers are often willing to sell last year's models at cheaper prices (ie 720p TVs) because most people spending $700+ want the latest and greatest. If you just want a quality TV and you plan on using the HDMI hookups for true High Definition viewing, this is probably the best picture you'll find. I made sure my mom knew what to look for when she went shopping - and she agreed by getting this one.Best of luck to you!

5A great low cost second HDTV
By Leedoh
I got this TV for our basement for the Wii that we just purchased as we have a 55 inch DLP upstairs for our normal viewing. The reason why we got a lower end LCD was 1 price, 2 it wasn't going to be our everyday TV to watch so I wasn't quite as concerned with the picture quality, and 3 we wanted to mount it on the wall so that we would not have issues with hitting it with our Wii remotes. The picture quality is great with the Wii and is good for TV. I would recommend this TV for someone that isn't going to use it as their primary TV. If they were buying a primary TV I would suggest spending more and getting a 1080p as you can see the difference in picture quality. Again though, this TV delivered on why I got it and didn't disappoint one bit.

4Pretty good quality for a very good price.
By AJ McLaughlin
Let me start by saying that my television came promptly and in one piece, two days after ordering. I was very happy about that, and even happier that it wasn't busted up into fragments during shipping- so order with confidence. As for the television itself, the picture is pretty amazing. Some say you can't really tell the difference between 780 and 1080 with televisions of this size, but comparing it to my roommates television of the same size, mine looks clearer and crisper. No dead pixels so far and everything looks sharp in HD. It is also worth noting that the television turns on very quickly, without any beeping noises or space sounds. The sound quality is not bad at all. There is an option to simulate surround sound on the tv's speakers, which in my opinion, made it even better. The volume is good enough for me, and my bedroom is pretty large and cavernous. The TV also has enough HDMI ports for all my gadgets: cable box, XBOX, Wii, my laptop- they all fit. This is the only knock I have, and the reason it didn't receive 5 stars: When I went to attach the television stand to the bottom of the TV, the screws were absolutely obnoxious to get into the holes. They did not fit properly or easily and the screws were easily stripped. The end result is that, although it is firmly attached to the stand, it is wobbly and makes me pretty nervous about someone bumping it. If you plan to wall mount, don't worry about it- but I was unhappy with the way the stand was constructed.Still, a highly recommended purchase. The page doesn't say, but the tv comes with a 1-year limited warranty if you're concerned. I am not. I'm happy with my new TV!

1No customer service
By John P. Thesz
Owned my tv for right at 6 months when it failed. It was under warranty, so I called and the tech showed up the next day. Great! He orders 2 boards for it, they take a week. Ok, fine. He replaces parts, does not fix, and tells me it is the panel itself, which is no longer made and I have to get a replacement. Hmmm. He forwards my case to On Corporation (the company that actually makes RCA tvs) and I wait. Coming up on 2 weeks now, not a word. I call the number given to me by the tech, answering machine. I leave daily messages. Nothing. Wow.

5Sturdy Starter HDTV
By Kevin L. Nenstiel
My last HDTV, a Dynex, had problems with murky color in the earth tones. Because of this, half-lit scenes in my favorite shows tended to become unreadable. It made watching suspense shows taxing, but I thought it was just a characteristic of HD. This unit proves that's not so. It has bright, clear colors, and even darkened rooms and caves have enough definition that I can follow the action. It also has clear enough sound that I can enjoy my favorite cable music channels.Several previous reviewers have given this unit bad rates because of their run-ins with customer service. I can't speak to that, because I've had nothing but good luck with this unit, and have had no need to contact customer service. Therefore I can say, with a certain level of comfort, that I approve of this television. It does everything I need a TV to do, and it does it well, without running up my electric bills. Definitely a good, inexpensive TV for families, businesses, and dorms.

4Not for older components!
By MollyDawg
This was my first LCD HD purchase. (I'm late to the party.) I chose Samsung, and paid a premium, for one silly feature, which is an on/off timer. Most TVs have sleep timers, but I used my little old 14" JVC to wake up! I couldn't find a reliable maker of LCDs that included an on timer except Samsumg. It not only has an on timer, it has three! Perfect for when you're going to be away and want your TV to go off and on at different intervals to make it appear that someone is home. And of course, to serve as my alarm clock.Sadly, I had to return the unit the following day. Why? Because even though the specs say that it has one composite and one component input, you can only use one or the other as it only has one video jack. Depending on your cable, you plug the video link into the one jack, and the audio into either of the remaining based on whether it's composite or component. You cannot have two machines. I had my old VCR (yes, how quaint that I still use one) and a middle-aged DVD player--one of each. Of course if you have later model attachments, you can use the HDMI, etc. But be advised, this set has limitations for older toys.As for the sound quality I have read about here and on other sites, I didn't notice anything particularly wrong with it. There are about 5 different settings and admittedly one of them is tinny, but the sound was much richer when set to "movie," and it includes an equalizer of sorts. The sound was perfectly enjoyable. So if connecting components doesn't mean anything to you, I recommend it for bedroom or kitchen placement.

1You get what you pay for
By Lang M. Ho
This is one of the cheapest 22" LCD HDTVs out there. And you get what you pay for. When I opened it and set it up it seemed fine aside from a rather flimsy stand. It worked great for a couple weeks (aside from the first time I tried to connect my PC to it). Then it would start acting up while I was playing Xbox. Either losing the picture completely or having it keep automatically adjusting the screen size, changing tints and shades, you name it and it freaked out in that manner. It stabilized itself and stopped doing that, but I have no idea what caused it and basically am just waiting for it to do it again. Do yourself a favor and remember that you get what you pay for, low price means low quality.UPDATE: I would not recommend this product under any circumstances. I had the picture go out or get messed up at least (literally, no joke) 15 times while trying to watch a movie last night. And for anyone wondering if it might be just the component jacks, well, I switch it over to cable just long enough to catch half a car chase on some cop show (I'd be more specific on the title, but the TV didn't stay on long enough for me to see it). At this point I would deem it inoperable and am in the process of returning it.I would also like to add that a lot of the features on the TV make me believe that the TV is not actually made by Samsung, but rather a different company that has coordinated a deal with Samsung to allow the Samsung name to be placed on it.

4Good for price
By Spartan Basketball
This LCD TV is great for the price. Perfect size for my home office. I have no issue with the picture or the sound. People need to be realistic. It is a 22" TV, not meant to be the focal point of a home theatre. Easy plug and play setup takes about 5 minutes from box to functionality.

5One of the best 120Hz LED Bargain there is
By Killah Kev
This TV is 120Hz...the info contained in the review about 60Hz is incorrect. I bought this TV elsewhere on Black Friday and cannot be more pleased with the image and overall quality of this LG. This television litterally makes almost everything you watch on it appear to be happening right in front of you. I original bought 4 other televisions on BF (a 26" Vizio LED, a Toshiba 40" LCD and a Samsung 46" LCD) and this had the best picture quality of them all...so much so that I returned the other two larger TVs. The Toshiba had a brighter picture but couldn't match the "right there" look of the LG. The Samsung had a nice picture quality but the backlight couldn't bring up the details as well as the LG in darker scenes, but overall it had an excellent picture. In the end though the LG won based on the eveness of the color. So to summarize...2 of these LGs and a 26" Vizio LED later (ironically the LG remote works for this TV and vice versa - LG probably makes the panel and tuner for Vizio)...I couldn't be happier!

5great purchase!
By lynn
We searched around quite a bit for the right deal in a new HDTV. Got educated in LED vs. LCD vs. plasma. The price of LED was much higher everywhere, though the picture is better than LCD and plasma. I like the LG brand quite a bit. We just happened to see this great deal on LG HGTV on Amazon and jumped on it. We are very happy we waited.

5Excellent LED TV!
By M. Ghafoori
This is my first LG tv purchase and I am certain it will not be my last. I picked up this TV after receiving another tv, albeit damaged, via amazon. Of course, Amazon's customer service was phenomenal. Well, this TV has a crystal clear picture, much more colorful than my previous plasma (720p) and this may sound a little odd, but it seems as though you are in the same room with the people on tv! The sound is good - especially for a very thin led tv - but I have this hooked up to my surround sound via a digital optical audio cable. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is an audio out with the standard red/white audio cables. So you may want to pick up a digital optical cable if you're picking up this tv and want to use your own surround sound system. Overall I am extremely pleased with this led LG 42" tv and highly recommend this tv to my friends.
